Reflections of the week, Zim Challenged, youths challenge, from Moza through Zim to Euro 2012

12 years ago | 4404 Views

In this blog l will review the stories that have caught my eye during the week and l will also give my opinion on them, providing some commentary on them.

On the Zim challenged, the story comes from the province of Masvingo where we saw the work of heroins in the making. We are told that at least 700 students walked for 20km to air their views to the education officials. Wow how l envy them, having the courage, the strength and the determination to achieve that fit. This is a lesson on the whole of Zimbabwe, the ball is in our court and we don’t have to take nonsense form anyone. Lets stand up for our rights where ever we are, be it in South Africa where people are crying about racism, be it in Ukraine where we are called monkeys, be it the the Americas or even back home. Wherever you fill your rights being infringed Zimbabwe, lets stand up and be counted. These girls save as a reference case and they clearly show us that anything can be achieved because imagine where was the security when this happened, did they not meet anyone on the way, were there no turncoats (name supplied), flip flopper  who would have sold out. For me this is inspiration don’t know about you Zimbabwe.

Youth empowerment. This issue was addressed at Byo Polytechnic. Well this is an issue that l strongly work for and l believe this time the group Upfumi kuvadiki got it spot on. I give them a ten out of ten in saying the retail sector should and is for locals. The fact that this sector does not need large capital outlay should make it a sector for the locals. With Zimbabwe grippling with above 50% unemployement, l call upon the relevant authorities that is the especially the Minister Kasukuwere and the Zimbabwean Youth to facilitate such a move. Imagine if Zimbabwe manages to pull this off, it would actually mean we have reduced our unemployment rate by over 15% which is a stride in the correct direction. I call upon MDC-T, MDC, ZANU-PF, MAVAMBO, ZAPU and all the pressure groups in Zimbabwe to facilitate the take up of such a stance. Some people have called it xenophobia but l have been made to understand that the retail sector should be for locals and that is a policy so it would just be implementing a policy. Moreover if it was not a policy it would be empowering the people of the country to be able to fend for themselves and can we call that bad?

Still on the empowerment tip we are made to understand that there were clashes between ZANU-PF members about a mine in Matopo as both claim ownership. That’s very interesting as they are supposed to be the same people. I was made to understand that the elders in this case went behind the backs of the young turks which if it is true does not reflect very well on the Elders as they are supposed to lead by example. I hope and trust the issue will be solved amicably and the erring party will be reasonable, but l would love to say it is nice to see young people forming partnerships and trying to make a living for themselves. Way to go GUYS, if all youths in Zimbabwe could follow your lead.

Matabeleland youths with A'levels urged to join the army. That comes as a surprise to me, how one can urge our youths with Advanced level qualification to join the army mind you Advanced level qualification yet the army itself has reportedly admitted to recruiting youths without any ordinary level qualification. Do you want to deprive the nation of future doctors, future academics, future scientists, future engineers, future lawyers and future top notch job candidates? I am saddened by such statements which l believe are reckless at the very best. Pardon me for the strong language because this comes at a time when people are trying to increase the number of scholarships in the region, at a time when there has been an outcry in the social networks about the limited number of Matland students enrolled at Nust. What a shame l hope the governor clarifies is statement at the very least. Mind you l have nothing against the army but if they are getting people with birth certificates in Mutare (as the only certificates they have), why can’t they also get people with birth certificates here also.

And on a lighter note let’s hope the Zim national soccer team beats our fellow competitors otherwise no world cup for us. I am happy with the Hwange- Dynamos verdict because how can a team play without their technical team (mind you from start to finish without them being given marching orders by the ref but given marching orders by some other sinister, lumpen characters)   remember there is something called FIFA FAIR-PLAY.  Ooh for interest sack l will be in Ukraine and will also visit Poland to watch my team the three lions play. Roar Lions Roar. Hope we at least make it to the semis, from there anything can happen. I will also watch the German, Spain, Dutch games. Look out for Benzema and Ronaldo they may cause a few upsets. Lastly can`t wait for the Caps – Hardbody match it looks like it will be interesting, let’s all go support our teams this weekend be it chart topping Bosso to trying to climb up Caps to disappointing rangers who  now are seeing a silver lining.

I rest my case Zimbabwe. Have a great weekend. Don’t drink and drive. Let`s reduce accidents. Mahwindi pliz ndapota no over load, labodriver bemitshovha siyacela asihambeni kahle sidriveni kahle sikazi ukuti sitwele abantu.
